The Protection of Minority Shareholders

The Institute for Professional Development Malta Ltd is organising a seminar on the 25th of March in the afternoon entitled " The Protection of Minority Shareholders."

During the Seminar the possition of Shareholders with a minority shareholding in a company will be looked at. The various section of the Companies Act, that may be utilised to protect harassed minority shareholders, will be analysed in detail. Particular emphasis will be made on the ad hoc sections that cater for minority protection. In addition the various possible actions available to minority shareholders, both in Maltese law and English law will be looked into. Case studies will be presented for discussion and compared to decided case law, where minority shareholders sought the refuge of the courts.
