The Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU) has today issued for consultation a revised version of the Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism Regulations (PMLFTR) PMLFTR – 5th AMLD Amendments – Consultation Document
The proposed amendments to the PMLFTR seek to transpose into Maltese law the provisions of Directive (EU) 2018/843 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 2018 (5th AMLD) amending Directive (EU) 2015/849 on the prevention of the use of the financial system for the purposes of money laundering or terrorist financing (4th AMLD). The changes introduced by the 5th AMLD continue to strengthen the integrity of the EU’s financial system and the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing.
Members of the Chamber of Advocates are invited to provide their feedback to this consultation, by Wednesday, 30th October 2019 on info@avukati.org. This will enable the Chamber to take members’ views into consideration when submitting its response to the FIAU by the deadline of 05 November 2019.
