The Chamber of Advocates is deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Chief Justice Emeritus Profs. Giuseppe Mifsud Bonnici, who, for a number of years, also served as Chamber President.
Professor Mifsud Bonnici loved the profession and will undoubtedly be remembered for the indelible contributions he made to the profession, whether as a member of the bar, when he was elevated to the bench, as well as a lecturer at the University of Malta.
He has always enjoyed the utmost respect within all legal circles. Not even his venerable age, which at times, proved physically challenging, would stop him from attending the Chamber’s activities and events. He remained interested in the Chamber and honoured us with recollections, intellect, experience, humility and sense of humour.
We have not only lost a stalwart of the profession but a giant and constant point of reference.
The Chamber extends its deepest condolences to the family, particularly, his daughter Dr Anna Mifsud Bonnici, a valued officer within the Chamber committee.
